The assembly i used only had about 2mm of space on the barrel, which required folding and flexing the rubber boot to make it fit Fortunately the rubber boot is very flexible (at least in the summer). 2009 vibe steering rattle by olsjason » sun feb 12, 2012 8:52 pm hello, i recently purchased a 2009 vibe 1.8 fwd, and as soon as i got it home i noticed a rattle coming from the steering column area It occurs at low speeds (parking lots, driveways, etc.) and i can duplicate the noise by jiggling the steering wheel back and forth with the car off.
The 1.8l vibe has better/about the same responsiveness as the 2.4l pt cruiser and the vibe gets another 6 mpg overall
Also i had more faith that the vibe would have better long term reliability.as for the 09 electric power steering, i think i preferred the hydraulic ps on my 2003 better but it's not that big a deal.
